Karyūkai Exhibition

Karyūkai means “the world where geisha live” in Japanese. Geishas are treasures of Japan. They are based in Kyoto and keep Japanese culture alive. As the world has evolved, why do they still continue to exist? It is because their appearance, and their lives themselves, are all art, and they have and will continue to play a very important role in preserving Japan’s history. Geishas are truly a living art form. This exhibition titled “Karyūkai” is an attempt to explore the reality of geisha.
